Derek McCormack

Derek McCormack’s latest novel is The Show That Smells (ECW Press, 2008). His last novel, The Haunted Hillbilly (ECW Press, 2003), was named one of the best books of 2004 by both the Globe & Mail and the Village Voice. In 2005, it was nominated for a Lambda Literary Award for Best International Gay Fiction. He is also the author of two short story collections: Dark Rides and Wish Book: A Catalogue of Stories, and the co-author of Wild Mouse, a carnival book which was nominated for the 1999 Toronto Book Award. He and comic artist Seth collaborated on Christmas Days, a history of Christmas culture in Canada. He has published articles on the artists David Altmejd and Vincent Fecteau, and has contributed critical essays to two art exhibition catalogues: What It Feels Like For a Girl / Sinbad in the Rented World at the Art Gallery of York University; and Werewolf Express! at the Buena Yerba Arts Center in San Francisco, California. Along with artist Ian Phillips, he is creating a mail-art project for the Art Gallery of York University. He lives in Toronto.
